My child is only seven but is very mature. Can I sign her up for one of your camps?
Unfortunately, we will not allow younger students to enroll in our camps.

Are there any special requirements to sign up for these camps?
Other than the minimum age requirements specified for each camp, all students are welcome to enroll.

My child would really like to attend one of your camps, but we don’t have the money. Is funding available?
We have tuition assistance available for income-eligible families. To apply, please complete and submit the online tuition assistance application or call 319-398-7772 for assistance.

My child has a morning camp that ends at 12:00 p.m. and an afternoon camp that starts that same day at 1 p.m., will there be supervision over the lunch break?

We will provide supervision and make sure your child gets from camp to camp within the same building. Please provide a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration. Limited transportation available on main Cedar Rapids campus between camps upon request.

My child’s camp is over at 12:00 p.m. and I have to work until 2 p.m. Can he just stay at Kirkwood until I can pick him up?
For liability reasons, students will need to be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the camp has ended. Students can be dropped off 15 minutes prior to the start of camp.

The camp my child wants is full, can you squeeze in just one more?
Unfortunately, if the camp is full, we cannot take any more students. Please add your child to the camp waiting list and you will be notified if a spot becomes available.

Is there a chance that the camp might be canceled?
All camps have a minimum number of students required. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified and will receive a full refund.

What if we need to drop out of a camp?
Refunds will be issued to learners who withdraw from camp at least two business days prior to the camp start date. No credit will be issued for camps dropped on or after the camp start date. To withdraw your registration, please call 319-398-1022.

I’m not sure if we’ll be able to sign up for a certain camp until the last minute. Can we sign up at the door?
If the camp has openings, we will accept walk-ins. Please note that if the minimum enrollment has not been met the class will be canceled. To check a camp's status, please check online or call 319-398-1022. A parent or guardian must accompany the child to the camp to sign appropriate forms and pay the registration fee.

Can I sit in on the camp with my child?
Adults will not be allowed to stay at the camp with students. If there are special circumstances, please contact the Camp Director at 319-398-1278 and we will evaluate the situation on a case-by-case basis.

I have a few questions about the camp I registered for. Do we need to bring anything? Where is it? I’m sure I’ll come up with more questions.
We will send an information packet one week prior to the start date of each camp. This should contain any information you need. If your questions are not answered, feel free to contact 319-398-1022.

What about permission forms and emergency contact information? Will I need to fill anything out?
During registration, a medical waiver must be completed. One week prior to the start of the camp, you’ll receive an information packet in the mail that will contain the remaining required forms.

Could I get some information on your camp faculty and staff?
All of the camp facilitators we have hired have teaching experience, whether as a local school teacher, Kirkwood faculty, or with Kirkwood Continuing Education. Many have led day camps through other organizations. Our camp staff has varying levels of experience from licensed teachers to babysitting. They are all CPR and First Aid certified.

How will you handle medical emergencies?
Our staff has been trained in CPR and First Aid. In the event of an emergency, we will refer to the medical waiver completed at registration.
