Ballantyne Auditorium
Ballantyne Auditorium is Kirkwood’s 375-seat Performing Arts facility and home to the talented students involved in Music and Theatre.
Ballantyne Auditorium is located at 6301 Kirkwood Blvd. SW in Cedar Rapids. Use the south campus entrance and follow the signs to Ballantyne Auditorium. An accessible elevator is available to the left of the staircase that leads down to the auditorium.
Performing Arts Events
The faculty and staff of the Arts & Humanities department at Kirkwood Community College welcome you to the 2024-25 season of Performing Arts events. We have an exciting slate of music and theatre performances you won't want to miss!
All performances will take place in Ballantyne Auditorium unless otherwise noted.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors, and FREE to all Kirkwood students, faculty, and staff with a valid EagleCard. Tickets may be purchased online here.

Christopher Gray

The reception is free and open to the public.
Originally from Iowa, Christopher Gray moved to Minnesota when he was 20 to learn the art of glassblowing. He has been working with glass since 2005 and enjoys sharing his knowledge and love for the medium through teaching others.
Gray studied glass at Anoka Ramsey Community College and at the University of River Falls Wisconsin, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass and Sculpture. Since then, he has traveled to Penland School of Crafts in the mountains of North Carolina, the Pittsburgh Glass Center, and the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington to work with many artists and learn new techniques.
After taking a two-year break from college to work and teach in different capacities that include community glass studios, city centers and residency opportunities, Gray began working towards his MFA at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana which he received in 2017. He now teaches Introduction to Glass, Beginning and Intermediate Hot Glass Blowing, Beginning and Intermediate Warm Glass, and 3D Design at Kirkwood Community College. His passion continues to drive him to learn new and innovative techniques through travel, attending professional workshops and conferences, and working and collaborating with other artists. He also competes in local, national, and international competitions, receiving recognition for his glass creations.
