Early Voting

The Kirkwood Recreation Center will be an Early In-Person Voting Satellite Site on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any Linn County resident can vote at an early voting in-person polling place.

Polling Location

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Precincts 49 and 50 vote at Kirkwood's Recreation Center.
• Precinct 48 votes at the Grant Wood Area Education Agency, 4401 6th Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
• Precinct 51 votes at the College Community (Prairie) School District Office, 401 76th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids.

Registration and Student Resources

To register to vote in Iowa, you must be: a U.S. citizen, an Iowa Resident, and at least 17 ½ years old (must be 18 years old by election day.) As a college student, you have the option of registering to vote in your hometown or where you currently live, but you cannot register in both locations.

• Take a look at the Iowa Secretary of State's Voting as a College Student resources. 
• If you’re not pre-registered, review the Iowa Secretary of State’s Voter Registration page for step-by-step instructions. You can also access the voter registration online and printed forms, as well as information on how to update your registration, if needed. 

When It's Time to Vote

Review the Election Calendars for important deadlines. As election day approaches, make sure you find your precinct or polling place or, if you choose, vote via absentee ballot. Learn more about absentee voting.
