You Are Welcome Here Scholarship
Kirkwood Community College is a proud participant in the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship program. Kirkwood has welcomed international students on its campus for over a span of a half a century. International students learn from our faculty, our domestic students and community but also they share their intellectual experience and cultural enrichment with the community. These experiences add value to learning, advance peace and global understanding.
Kirkwood Community College will offer two, renewable scholarships that cover a minimum of 50% tuition to selected first-year international students dedicated to furthering the #YouAreWelcomeHere message. Students and their family or financial sponsor must be able to pay half of the total cost listed here.
Eligibility
- A senior high school or university minimum GPA of 2.5 or above.

- Be a first-year international applicant of any major to a participating college or university. An international applicant is an individual who holds citizenship in a country outside the U.S. and who does not also possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Demonstrates interest and initiative in leadership and intercultural learning.
- Students must complete a #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship application. Application and supporting documents must be received at Kirkwood before the deadline.
- Complete a 500-1000-word essay or a two-to-five-minute video* answering the following prompt, "Tell us about your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you plan to continue applying your leadership skills at the school you are applying to?"
- #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship is not transferable.
Instructions for Applicants:
- First complete and submit an online admission application to Kirkwood Community College.
- Upload admission required documents, personal essay (not more than 750 words), and two recommendation letters in International Student Portal.
