The Industrial Maintenance Technology program prepares students for a broad range of industrial maintenance related careers using industry guided curriculum combined with practical hands-on labs.

Kirkwood is the affordable option! We offer more than $3 million in scholarships every year. Students in this program may be eligible to have half their tuition paid for by the Kibbie Grant.

To get into the Industrial Maintenance Technology program, you must complete the following, in addition to Kirkwood’s steps to become a student:
First year studies focus on the concept technologies that include, but are not limited to, basic electrical theory, motors and transformers, industrial controls and wiring, electrical print design and reading, industrial maintenance concepts (mechanical and electrical), applied physics, and mathematics.
During the second year, students are introduced to a broad range of industrial technologies and processes that are commonplace in today's industrial environments.
While in this program, students gain experience and skills in a variety of disciplines, such as basic construction and framing, plumbing, print reading, welding, fabrication, and light machining.

Students in Kirkwood's Industrial Maintenance Technology program, as well as those pursuing the Electromechanical Technology Diploma or Industrial Maintenance Technology or Operator Certificate, are encouraged to join the Kirkwood chapter of SkillsUSA, a workforce development organization for students with nearly 400,000 members nationally.
SkillsUSA is one of eight recognized members of the National Coordinating Council for Career and Technical Student Organizations (NCC-CTSO). CTSOs are co-curricular groups that help students in career and technical education programs further their knowledge and skills by participating in activities, events, and competitions.
